In The Eagle, you "post" or "close out" shipments by individual carrier. You can perform the post procedure as many times per day as you like. You can also complete other tasks from the Close Current Manifest dialog box, such as printing a Daily Third Party Insurance Report.
Notes
If any shipment contains multiple carriers, you have to close out both carriers. If you forget to do so, The Eagle reminds you with an error message.
The Close dialog box contains the Setup Export function, which allows you to export shipment information into an ASCII comma delimited file.
You can batch print forms for all shipments during the Close procedure.
To post shipments
On The Eagle main
toolbar, click the Close button. The Close Current Manifest dialog box
automatically places a check mark next to the carriers that have pending
shipments. Carriers with no pending shipments are grayed out.
In the Close Current Manifest dialog box, click on a carrier to see all pending shipments for that carrier. There are a few different ways to view the Shipment Summary for a carrier:
You can view the Shipment Summary by shipment totals.
You can also view the Shipment Summary by service.
If necessary, modify the check boxes to select the carriers that you want to close out.
Other functions from the Close Current Manifest dialog box:
To generate manifests, select the carrier/account and click the "Carrier" Manifest button. Enter the number of copies you want to print. (Click the Setup button to configure settings for the Manifest printer)
To print labels
or forms, highlight the carrier and click the Forms button.
See Forms Setup
To generate the 3rd Party Insurance report, click the 3rd Prty Ins button. Select the printer and click OK.
When you are done, click
Post.
The Post Shipments dialog allows you to also export shipment information
(Setup Export) and set up the printing
options for the Pickup Summary.
Click the Start button when you are ready to Post.
Click Exit.
Multi-Account
If you are using multiple accounts to ship, you can post shipments by individual account numbers. The account numbers display by carrier in the Close Current Manifest dialog box. However, if an account is disabled at the time you post, you cannot close its shipments.
Other notes:
The Eagle generates one PLD file that contains shipment information for all accounts that are posted.
The Eagle produces a separate Summary Manifest and Summary Label for each account posted. UPS OnLineÒ History displays one entry for each Close you perform, but that entry allows you to reprint the Summary Manifest/Label for all accounts posted at that time.
In the Close Current Manifest window, you can produce separate Third Party Insurance reports for each listed UPS account. Note that the Third Party Insurance setup you performed for UPS is global and applies to all UPS accounts (discount percentage, max value).
