Printing tabs

Printing with The Eagle allows for greater control over the shipping label content and the upper-left position of the label. The Eagle can append a custom Audit Label to the bottom of the shipping label.

The Eagle can print labels as each package is processed instead of having to wait for the complete shipment to be processed. You can choose to include a package count on FedEx Ground labels. When you let The Eagle control the printing, it can correct the total package count (x of y) when you are printing labels as you process packages.

The Eagle supports Zebra S500/Z4000 printers for FedEx Ground labels.

The Printing tab consists of three subtabs: Shipping Labels, Doc Tab, and Other Documents.  These tabs allow you to configure the way in which The Eagle or FedEx Ship Manager Server prints shipping labels, forms, and more.

Shipping Labels

You can choose to have The Eagle or the FedEx Ship Manager Server print shipping labels. Make your selection in the Label is printed by: section. If you select The Eagle, then click in the Label files: field and enter a path to a folder that is shared by all The Eagle workstations and the FedEx Ship Manager® Server. You can also search for a folder using the Browse button. This will be the folder where the FedEx Server places the label files.

Print label:

This setting defines at what point in the shipping process the package labels are printed.

When shipment is saved

Select this option to print all labels when you save the shipment.

As package is processed

Select this option if you want the package label to print when you click the "Next" button on the Shipping Window.

Prompt for total package count before printing first label

This check box is enabled when you select "As package is processed" above and also when Label is printed by: The Eagle. When it  is checked, The Eagle prompts you for the total package count when you click "Next" on the first package of a shipment. This allows The Eagle to correct the package count (for example, "1 of 5") before sending the label to the printer. In order for this setting to work, you must configure a setting in the FXRS configuration tool.

  1. Open the FXRS Configuration tool.

  2. Click on the Meter Settings tab.

  3. Under Ground Options, enable the Label Multi Pack Piece Count.

  4. Click OK.

Note: In order to change this setting, you need the appropriate access rights. If the Ground Options section is grayed-out for you, contact your Administrator.

Doc Tab

The doc tab refers to the 1" area at the bottom of the shipping label. The Ship Manager® Server can include additional information there, which prints on each package. You must be using a label stock of at least 7".

Print doc tab?

Check this box to add doc tab fields to the bottom of the label.

Note for Zebra S500/Z4000 printers

Currently, you are unable to customize the doc tab fields. Only the Service and Tracking Number are printed.

Doc tab prints: first or last

Select the end of the label on which the doc tab prints. If the doc tab portion of the label is fed into the printer first, click first. Select last if the bottom of the label is fed into the printer last. This must match your label stock if you have a removable doc tab on the labels.

Custom Doc Tab Info

In this section, select up to 12 shipment fields to include on the doc tab. These settings override any doc tab settings that you may have set up in the FXRS Configuration tool.

Other Documents

Choose whether to have The Eagle or FedEx Ship Manager® Server print documents.

If The Eagle will print documents, enter the path to the same folder you specified for "Directory"  in the FSMS Configuration Tool (Report Settings tab). All workstations should have access to this directory. This directory MUST match what was configured in the FSMS Configuration so be sure that it’s

exact otherwise your commercial invoices will not print as desired.

Ground Hazardous Documentation

Enter the name of the printer used for Ground HazMat OP-900 forms. Due to a limitation of the Ship Manager® Server, you cannot enter the UNC path of a shared printer. The printer must be installed as a "Local" printer on the Ship Manager® Server machine through one of these printer ports:
