The Hazardous Materials Profiles Maintenance allows you to maintain hazardous materials data for UPS and FedEx.
General Notes
With the exception of shipments containing dry ice, hazardous materials packages must not exceed 70 lbs gross weight. Lower limits apply to certain materials.
UPS requires shippers to affix an authorized UPS Shipping Paper to each hazardous material package and to complete an entry in the UPS Shipper’s Certification of Hazardous Materials for each package.
UPS/Masterform:
If you are using the Masterform interface in conjuction with UPS, please refer to the Masterform Interface guide you received for Setup and Shipping procedures. You can also download this interface guide (making sure to save it to your main The Eagle directory) on the Tanner Technology System website.
UPS/Other Interface:
You are free to use any UPS approved hazardous materials software to generate your hazardous documentation. However, you have to enter the Hazardous Materials information for UPS, as shown in this chapter, so that the proper information can be generated for those documents.
FedEx Ground Hazardous
The FedEx Ship Manager® Server prints the OP-900 Ground HazMat label and the OP-950 HazMat Certification Report Declaration of Dangerous Goods form for Express shipments. The OP-900 is a multi-ply form and requires the use of a dot matrix printer. The OP-950 prints on plain paper using a laser printer. The OP-900 is produced at the time of shipment confirmation and the OP-950 is produced after an End-of-Day Close is completed.
See the Printing section in FedEx Setup for more information about how to set up the Ground HazMat printer.
Limitations
Only one HazMat commodity can be associated with each Ground package.
Each HazMat package must be processed as a single package.
Ground Hazardous shipping labels will always be printed when the shipment is saved, not as each package is processed.
When printing is controlled by the FedEx Ship Manager® Server, the labels for all non-hazardous packages will print after the hazardous packages.
FedEx Express Dangerous Goods
The FedEx Ship Manager® Server prints the 1421C Declaration of Dangerous Goods form for Express shipments. The 1421C can be printed as a multi-ply form using a dot matrix printer or you may print this form on a laser printer using special 1421C paper (plain paper with a border of red cross-hatches). The 1421C plain paper form may be obtained from your FedEx supply source. The 1421C is produced at the time of shipment confirmation.
See the Printing section in FedEx Setup for more information about how to set up the Express Dangerous Goods printer.
Limitations
Each dangerous goods package must be processed as a single package.
Express dangerous goods shipping labels will always be printed when the shipment is saved, not as each package is processed.
When printing is controlled by the server, and there are non-hazardous packages in the shipment after hazardous packages, the labels for all non-hazardous packages will print after the hazardous packages.
